What to expect during your at Home Newborn Photo Shoot
So you booked your at home newborn photo shoot and now you are wondering what to expect.
Congratulations! Soon you will be welcoming home a new baby!! What a truly exciting time in life. If this is your first baby or your first newborn photo shoot, you may not know what happens at a newborn photo shoot. In this blog I will go over a few things that you can expect from your very own at home newborn photo shoot!! Let’s get into it.
Take a home tour at your newborn photo shoot
At the beginning of your at home newborn photo shoot you can expect that, as your photographer, I will want to take a tour of your home. This is where we will look for the best light. This is important because photography is all about light and good light will flatter everyone in your photos. And we all definitely want that. :)
Then I will also ask you which rooms you would like to include and see if those rooms will provide good light. This is also a time when you can talk about any special items you want to include like a special blanket or stuffy. At home newborn photo shoots are all about real life and the joys of bringing baby home.
Expect lots of snuggles at your at home newborn photo shoot
During at home newborn photo shoots the focus is on capturing all the love and joy of bringing home your new baby. Expect to be holding your baby for most of the session. I will photograph you with your baby in all the best areas of your home.
You can expect to have photos of:
just you with baby
your partner with baby
siblings with baby (if you have more children)
fur babies with baby (if this makes sense for you, not all parents want this)
everyone together with baby
baby alone
There might also be some other variations if you have multiple kids. But for the most part this is a rough list of different group combinations. As your Photographer I will also take photos of just baby when it feels right to remove them from your arms.
The pace of your at home newborn photo shoot will be slow
At home newborn photo shoots are a time for bonding. These photo shoots are meant to feel easy like Sunday morning. You can embrace the slow and laid back pace of a morning at home. I will set you up in each area of your home, and you can expect to just interact with each other as if I am just a fly on the wall capturing the tender moments.
Does this mean that there won’t be potential chaotic moments? No.
If you have multiple children or if baby is having a hard time settling or is experiencing any discomfort, then you can’t guarantee a completely laidback and chill time. In these moments you can find peace in the fact that, as your in home newborn photographer , I have seen it all and you can trust in me to capture tender in-between moments, that you will cherish, amongst the chaos that you are feeling as a parent.
So those are some things to expect from your at home newborn photo shoot
Expect to give a little home tour at the beginning of the photo shoot so we can find the best light in your home.
Expect to snuggle each other, especially your new baby.
Expect to have a slower paced photo shoot with plenty of time to feed, comfort and change baby as well as take care of any other situations that arise with siblings.
