Best Location for a Family Portrait Session | Seattle Family Photographer | Brooke Holliday Photography

The PNW is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

We are so lucky in that we have such a wide variety of terrain. You can drive within about an hour of Seattle to see the ocean or the mountains and fields with wild flowers or lush forests.

We have everything that you could want in a location for your portrait session. And did I mention fall foliage!! What ever your heart desires we have it here in the puget sound area.

When deciding on which location is right for your family there are factors to think about. Here are some things to consider.

  1. What do you like to do for fun?

Make sure to choose a location that best suits your family. If you enjoy playing in the water then a beach shoot might be perfect.

  2. Take into consideration the age of your children and what they can handle.

You may not want to take young children to an urban shoot in the city might be too distracting or having to worry about cars. An open field may be a better location to run around.

  3. Think about the season you want to shoot during.

The PNW has amazing beautiful spring blooms/wild flower fields and fall colors are particularly amazing around here.

  4. Lastly think about how far you want to travel and how far your kids travel well.

You may want to opt for a closer location to you if your kids don’t sit in the car well for more than 30-40 minutes.

Here are some of my favorite places to shoot outdoors.
