Why You Should Choose An In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session | Seattle Newborn Photographer

Home is where the heart is…

It may be a super cheesy saying but it is so true. Our homes hold so much importance to us. Not just because we build our home to be a place of comfort and joy but also because this is where some of the most precious moments of our lives happen.

I don’t know about you but when I look back on the memories of my baby girl I think of the moments of the stillness of my home on those early mornings. Waking to her calls to me for milk. Staring at her for hours and hours just learning every inch of her face, hands and feet. Watching her sleep because she was and is the most incredible human I know.

These things took place in my home, often my bed or the couching the living room. These memories might have been nice for me to have documented by photographs but sadly I didn’t have that done and it is one of the regrets that I hold with me.

Home is where you, your new baby, and your other children if you have them will feel the most comfortable. Home is where your fur children, if you have them, can be apart of your session. You don’t have to plan ahead to leave your home and pack every single thing you will need for the trip. You won’t have to sit for hours as your baby is soothed to sleep to get the perfect shots posed in an unnatural way. At your lifestyle newborn at home session your images will reflect your real life because at the end of the day, I would argue, that is really what we want to remember, to feel.

During a lifestyle newborn at home session I won’t require your new baby to be sleeping. I won’t require them to lay perfectly still. In fact if being in your arms is what makes your new baby content then that is where your baby will stay for the duration of the session. I like baby to lead the way. I am not there to impose temporary distress to your baby. I am there to capture the pure joy and love that your family has for this perfect creation of yours.

Siblings will be part of the session because they are apart of your families story. Bringing home a new baby can be a tough transition for them as well. I want them to feel special because they are and I don’t want them to feel left out of the process. If there’s a new toy I have to see or their favorite space in the home we will explore and capture what is special for them. Fur siblings can also get some spotlight as well, joining in on photos with the family.

Home is an integral part of our lives and in my opinion one of the best places to have a photography session. Newborn sessions in particular go hand in hand with photographing your family at home.
