Does my baby need to sleep for in home Newborn photos?

This is a question that I get asked a lot, being that I photograph newborns, as a Tacoma Newborn Photographer. And the answer is very simply no, but lets talk about why.

Your baby doesn't need to be asleep for in home newborn photos

Unlike traditional posed newborn sessions where it’s important that baby be a sleep to achieve the pose they are put in, Lifestyle Newborn photography is a more natural approach to Newborn Photography. Because there is no intricate posing there is no need for baby to be sleeping.

During a Lifestyle Newborn session the focus is less on a cutsy posed baby and more about the feelings and intimate moments at home with your new baby.

Lifestyle Newborn photos capture the true life perspective of having a newborn. So if baby sleeps then your photos will have baby sleeping but if baby is awake then your in home newborn photos will have your newborn awake. Neither is good, bad or better than the other because your baby is perfect just the way that they are. Everything that happens on your session date is meant to be that way and your family will be captured in all of it’s beauty and you will have those photos to cherish for years to come.

So if you are worried at all about fussing or wakefulness, please, DO NOT BE. It is of no requirement that your baby do or be anything other than just the way they are. We will capture heartfelt and intimate newborn photos no matter what.
