Why you should consider doing an at home photoshoot for your sanity

Some kids just do better at home.

I want to share a short personal story with you.

I have spent the last 10 months of my life dreading trips in the car, big and small.

I am a second time mom and my second daughter is completely different than my first. With my first if we had to go somewhere in the car no problem. She would peacefully sit and eventually fall asleep.

My second baby, not a chance is she peaceful or sleeping. While she screams for the whole duration of the car ride, my older daughter gets frustrated and starts yelling, and I get upset and overwhelmed by all the noise! The thought of driving to a location for a photo shoot makes me anxious.

Outdoor photo shoots aren’t for everyone.

One struggle for you as a parent when having a photo shoot on location is the travel. Getting ready on time to leave and be early to your location, in theory sounds manageable. But what happens once you are in the car. Siblings may start fighting, small children may not like their carseat and this leads to anxiety for you and your kids. And if you have had to deal with a situation similar to mine then it can really be taxing on you mentally.

So what happens? You arrive to your session on edge, your kids are not happy and your husband is asking you why are we even doing this?

So what do you do as a parent who wants family photos but the thought of driving to an outdoor location makes you cringe?

Have your session at home!

Having a session at home helps you avoid the stress and anxiety of traveling. Don’t put your self through that just to get photos done at sunset. Do what’s best for the family, right now, and have your photographer come to you and capture your family in the one place that will make everyone comfortable. I have been conducting photo shoots at home for years now and they are some of my favorite sessions to do.

At home sessions are also the perfect first session to get to know each other and get comfortable with a photographer if your children don’t do well with people they aren’t familiar with.

So if you find yourself with children that don’t travel well, don’t do well outside or you just didn’t know that you could have a photo shoot at your home. I am here to tell you that yes you can, you should and you will love it. Click the button below to contact me about booking your at home family session!
