2022 BHP Superlative Awards | Tacoma Family & Newborn Photographer

Good-bye 2022 and hello 2023, but not before we giveaway superlative awards!

2022 is coming to an end and we are stepping into 2023. It’s hard to think that 22 years ago, we lived through Y2K and the whole country literally thought the world was going to end when the clock struck 12AM in 2000! Like How?!

But I digress… This year really was an important year for me. It was my first year officially full time in my business (YAY!!). I met some amazing people and families this year and saw some familiar faces again. It was the first year that I got to really build my business and grow with my families! (Thank you!!)

But enough about me! More about you!

I am very very grateful for you all! These awards are meant to be light-hearted and in good fun. Every year they change and this is a fun way for me to highlight some of the sessions over the past year. So scroll and see if your session was featured!

2022 BHP Superlative Awards

Best Dressed

Every year there is one Mom that knocks it out of the park on styling. I loved how this mama coordinated her families clothes with the decor of their home. The colors really sang in every photo! Bravo!

Most Energetic Kids

Three boys under the age of 6 can seem like a challenge but these boys were as sweet as they were ready to play and have fun. They had high energy in the best way and I was completely there for it!

The Calmest Newborn Award

Newborn sessions are all so different. Some babies need lots of soothing and others sleep pretty well. This baby girls was awake and very chill for her parents. She was ready for her moment in front of the camera.

The Coziest Session

I can’t think of a better way to spend a family session at home then curled up together and reading a book! I loved how real this moment was and it just oozed cozy snuggly feels. Definitely a great choice of activity for their family session at home.

The Snuggliest Family

This family knows how to love on each other and isn’t afraid to do it. Their session was especially special because grandma was able to join in for some extra special and snuggly moments.

Most Embarrassing Moment

So this gets the most embarrassing moment award because asking older kids to hold hands and skip together is probably one of the most awkward things you can ask. But look at those faces! This is PURE GOLD in my book.

The Chillest Parents

Sometimes never having had a photo shoot works in your favor as a client. These two were super easy going and trusted completely in the process and their session was sooo good. They were chill and totally rocked their first photo shoot.

Hottest Session of the Year

Summer was HOT and this session was not only hot in temp but absolutely fire. This family came to snuggle, play and have a good time and that is always a recipe for a FIRE photo shoot.

Wettest Session of the Year

Low Tide Sessions are a fun way to play and explore with the family at the beach here in the PNW. This session was particularly wet because this family came to take their shoes off and play in the water.

Zoolander Award

This Senior gave me all the looks and I barely had to tell him what to do. I was inspired and this shoot was fire. Zoolander goes to him because he was giving face all session! A natural.

Best Fall Colors

This year Fall colors were really popping well into the first part of November. It could have possibly been that very warm October we had this year. Luckily I had Senior sessions all the way till November and we got the best fall colors down at my River location!

Best Baby Bumps

These ladies here were so strong and beautiful carrying their babies. Motherhood and pregnancy is a hard and amazing gift all wrapped up into one. I am also happy to have had the pleasure to meet both of their babies after birth! #grateful

Most Personality

One of the best parts of Modern School Photography is getting to hang out with kids and try to make them laugh and smile. Kids are just a pure joy to work with. This little lady was full of the most personality and I loved capturing her authentically. She gave me so many sides of her personality. I loved being able to capture them for her parents.

Hairiest Newborn Award

It’s so funny how some babies are born bald and hardly grow hair by their 1st birthday and others have a full head of hair the day they are born. This luck guy had a full head of gorgeous hair!

Funnest Location

This year I was able to shoot in the Sunflower Fields of Maris Farm for the first time and it was so much fun! Not only is it unique and only happens for a limited time each year but after the photos are done you get to have all the fun that Maris Farms provides! Fun fact you can book me to shoot your family here! Ask me how for 2023.

Sweetest Big Brother Award

I met this little guy when he was 2. Being able to see kids grow up every year is probably one of the most rewarding things about being a family photographer. As a, now, big brother he was so gentle and loving with her little brother. Such a sweet boy and his little brother is lucky to have him.

The Boss Award

Katy Marie Artistry is so good at what she does and is the kindest person I have ever met. Being able to take her branding photos this year was such a treat. She has grown her business over the years and it’s been a pleasure to witness her growth.

Best Pet Cameo

Having pets present at your session is a must! Our fur babies are only with us for such a short time. Documenting them is so important because they can be cherished forever.

The Fresh Start Award

This session was so unique. This couple reached out to have me document them in their newly purchased home! It was an honor and such a fun unique session.

Most Fashionable Award

Most fashionable goes to my friend and collaborator Sam Dorn of Learning to Bloom! She has the best tips for what to wear for your photo shoot for each season! See her features on my blog here, here and here. Plus keep an eye out for Spring!

That is a wrap for 2022 and I can not wait to see who I get to serve and connect with in 2023. If you are in need of Family, Maternity, Newborn photos in 2023, its never too soon to book your session. Review the links below to get started.
