Can older siblings participate in a Newborn Photo Shoot?

Today I wanted to talk about a recent question that I received from a family that is expecting their 2nd child. Mom was wondering if during their Newborn photo shoot in their home if older brother would be able to be apart of the session. This was such a good question.

When thinking about newborn photography it is easy to assume that most, if not all of the session will be focused on your newborn and you may not know if your photographer is going to involve the rest of the family. So lets discuss!

Can older siblings participate in a Newborn Photo Shoot?

The answer to this question is a resounding YES! During Lifestyle Newborn Photo Shoots with me, the whole family is involved in the session. For me capturing everyone bonding and interacting with the newest family member is so important.

During the session I like to get a variety of photos with the whole family. Baby will be pictured with each family member and everyone together through out the session. Even furry siblings are welcome if you feel it’s a viable option for a photo op.

So if you are adding more siblings to your family and are not sure if your other children are welcome to participate in your upcoming newborn session, know that with me they are welcome and it’s apart of my newborn photo shoot workflow to incorporate siblings in photos with baby and the whole family as well.
